Project Description
The Curry Lounge is a much-loved Indian and Punjabi restaurant located in the heart of Nottingham city centre, which specialises in traditional, home cooked fayre. Comfortably accommodating up to 120 diners for evening meals, corporate events and special occasions, the family run eatery's ethos is simple - to cook every dish fresh using the best locally sourced ingredients that they can find, whilst also keeping affordability in mind.
With this outlook and several accolades under its belt, the restaurant has gone from strength-to-strength and now attracts visitors from all over the country who expect delicious food and a dining experience where they are made to feel like one of the family.
UFO was contracted by Unknown Design's David Wrigglesworth to supply and install feature fibre optic lighting within the Curry Lounge. The owners wanted to create a very specific and unique atmosphere in the restaurant using programmable lighting and water features, so David called upon us to fulfil the lighting element.
The main feature within the bustling restaurant is a large sweeping 'chandelier' that comprises of 1,800 strands of 3 core polymer side sparkle fibre made into 4 harnesses. These are mounted through the suspended ceiling raft in a spiral formation through the main area of the restaurant to give the effect of colour changing and sparkling strands of light.
Silk drapes around the perimeter of the booth seating are lit using UFO's P19 type paver fittings with an internal domed lens to allow focussing of the light. These are supplied with light by 6mm glass fibre in 3 harnesses to give a colour changing wash of light.
